# Logs and Problems

New in 2.0.8. The bottom of the main window holds one panel with two tabs: **Logs**, which reports imports, builds and fixes as they happen, and **Problems**, which lists every finding the pre-build checks have for the pack. Both are free.

## Opening the panel

| Action | Default shortcut |
| --- | --- |
| Show or hide logs and problems | `Ctrl+J` |
| Show problems (hides the panel again if Problems is already showing) | `Ctrl+Shift+M` |

Both shortcuts can be changed in **Settings** > **Keyboard Shortcuts**. You can also open the command palette with `Ctrl+K` and run **Show problems (Error List)** or **Show or hide logs and problems**.

The panel's tabs carry live counts, so you can read them without opening anything: **Problems** shows its error and warning numbers, **Logs** its errors.

- **Resize** the panel by dragging the handle above it. The height is remembered.
- **Collapse** it to a single bar. Collapsed, the bar still shows the latest log line and how many items are blocked or need attention.
- **Maximise** it to take the whole workspace height for a moment. This is not remembered, so the app never opens to a full-screen log.

## Problems

Problems is the Error List for the whole pack: every finding from the [pre-build checks](/cloth-tool/about-the-tool/validation) in one place.

:::frame{caption="The Problems tab as a table."}
![The Problems tab as a table with severity, message, item, check and location for each finding](https://pub-57d6558d0e204696b4cdeee5d172e561.r2.dev/cloth-tool/features/problems-panel.83734fc330.webp)
:::

### Two ways to read it

- **Group by item** (the default): one collapsible block per garment, with its name, slot and counts on the header. Use **Expand all** and **Collapse all** to open or close every group.
- **Show as a table**: columns **Severity**, **Message**, **Item**, **Check** and **Location**. Click a column header to sort by it.

When many items share one problem, each of them still gets its own row, with its own **Fix** and **Ignore**.

### Filters

| Filter | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Search problems** | Narrows the list to findings that match the text. |
| Severity (**Error**, **Warning**, **Info**) | Shows or hides each severity. |
| **Check** | Limits the list to one check, or **Every check**. |
| **Item** | Limits the list to one garment, or **Every item**. |
| **Show ignored** | Brings back findings that were ignored on purpose. The button shows how many there are. |

**Clear the filters** resets them all. **Re-check** runs the checks again.

### The summary

The top of the tab says what stands between you and a build, for example "2 errors stop the build", the number of warnings and notes, and how many findings are ignored. When nothing is blocking, it reads **Nothing stops the build**. A clean pack shows **No problems found.**

:::hint{type="warning" title="Errors block the build"}
The build will not start while an error stands. Fix it, or ignore it on purpose. See [Validation](/cloth-tool/about-the-tool/validation) for how ignoring works.

### Auto fix

New in 2.0.8. **Auto fix…** in Problems fixes, in one go, every problem the tool can fix by itself without asking you anything.

:::frame{caption="Auto fix: tick what to fix."}
![The Auto fix window listing problems the tool can fix with a tick box and count for each, and the Fix button](https://pub-57d6558d0e204696b4cdeee5d172e561.r2.dev/cloth-tool/features/auto-fix.1e8f6db29d.webp)
:::

:::steps
### Open it
Click **Auto fix…** in the Problems tab. The window lists the **Fixable problems**, grouped by check, each saying what will change.

### Pick what to fix
Tick whole groups or single problems. The window starts with the safe fixes ticked: those that only change the project. Fixes that re-encode texture files on disk are marked **Rewrites files** and are left for you to tick. **Select all safe fixes** goes back to the safe set. Ignored findings are left out unless you click **Show ignored**.

### Run it
Click **Fix N problems**. The window shows **Fixing X of Y…** and can be cancelled. The pack is checked again before each fix, so a problem an earlier fix already solved is skipped rather than fixed twice.

### Read the result
The window says how many were fixed, failed or skipped, and why. The checks run again afterwards, so Problems is up to date.

What is fixed automatically, and what still needs you:

| Fixed automatically | Needs you |
| --- | --- |
| Fixes with one clear answer, such as renumbering an item, putting texture letters in order or resizing a texture to a power of two. | Problems with no automatic fix: their explanation says what to do. |
| Shrinking a large texture the mesh barely uses (Premium, see below). | Fixes that open a tool where you decide what changes, or need a file, a name or optimiser settings from you. |
| | Fixes that would delete texture variants, change which ped an item is built for, or choose between several fixes. |
| | A texture the mesh barely uses where shrinking would not help, because the UVs need re-packing. |

The problems that need you are listed underneath, greyed out, each with what it needs (for example **1 problem needs you**).

- **Undo**: one `Ctrl+Z` takes the whole run back, including any texture files it rewrote.
- **Restore point**: when the project has [version history](/cloth-tool/about-the-tool/team-collaboration), a Project History restore point (**Before auto fix (N problems)**) is taken before anything changes.
- A re-encoded texture that came out no bigger than the original is not used: the original is kept.

:::hint{type="info" title="Premium"}
Auto fix itself is free. Fixes that rewrite texture files use texture optimisation, which is Premium; without it they are listed as **Needs Premium**.
:::

### Working from the keyboard

Click a row to select its item and open the item's **Findings** tab. With the list focused:

| Key | Action |
| --- | --- |
| `Up` / `Down` | Move between rows. |
| `Home` / `End` | Jump to the first or last row. |
| `Enter` | Run the row's fix. If there is no fix, the item and its findings are shown instead. |
| `Delete` | Ignore the finding. A warning is ignored straight away; an error asks you to confirm first. |
| `Left` / `Right` | Collapse or expand the current item's group (in **Group by item**). |

Some findings cannot be ignored at all, because the pack would not contain what the list says it does.

## Logs

The **Logs** tab is the app's live log for this session.

:::

| Control | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Levels** | Turns **Errors**, **Warnings**, **Done** and **Info** lines on or off. |
| **Search the log** | Shows only matching lines. |
| **Wrap long lines** | Wraps lines instead of cutting them off. |
| **Copy what is shown** | Copies the lines that currently pass your filters. Each line also has **Copy this line**. |
| **Save to a file…** | Saves the shown lines to a file you choose. |
| Clear | Clears the panel. The log file on disk keeps everything. |

A line that repeats is folded into one, marked **Repeated N times**, with the time of the first one.

To find the full log files, use **Open logs folder** in the menu under the KOJA logo.

## Report a problem

**Report a problem** sends a bug report to KOJA without you having to find or copy anything. Open it from the menu under the KOJA logo, or from the command palette (`Ctrl+K`).

:::steps
### Describe it
Fill in **What went wrong** (a short title) and, if you like, **Anything else worth knowing**.

### Check what is attached
The dialog lists what goes with the report:
- the app build and your plan;
- your Discord name, so the team can reply (only when you are signed in);
- the end of this session's log, and the newest crash report if there is one.

It never sends your licence key or any of your project files.

### Send
Click **Send report**. If the report cannot be sent, it is saved on your PC instead, and **Open folder** shows you where.
